Book Corner – "Tim Richmond"
"Tim Richmond - The Fast Life and Remarkable Times of NASCAR’s Top Gun"
Author: David Poole
For many years I have wondered why no one had written a book about Tim Richmond. Of all of the drivers I have ever seen behind the wheel of a stock car, Richmond was the shoe whose talent impressed me the most. He was a shooting star who burned so brightly for what was too short of a time to many.
Tim was perhaps the epitome of the driver who raced harder than any other. On top of that he had Hollywood good-looks and a boat load of charisma. Tim was a special person, whose farewell from the sport was a shove out the door by the powers that be.
David Poole of the Charlotte Observer was the writer who finally put pen to paper and wrote this biography. David, who is also co-host of "The Morning Drive" on Sirius channel 128 NASCAR radio, did extensive research on Richmond for this project. There are topics that Poole deftly explains in this book that were taboo to discuss around the time of Tim’s death nearly twenty years ago.
Tim Richmond is perhaps the most intriguing subject of whom a biography could be written. David Poole exposes the truth backs it up with facts and quotes from people who were there. On top of that, the bio is packed solid with statistics that show just how good Richmond was.
